Two great influencers in my life and community have completed the Masters in Global Leadership at Fuller (Scott White- Missions and Outreach Pastor at Lake Avenue Church, and Pastor Jean Burch- pastor at Community Bible Church and former President of Clergy Community Coalition), and after being led to the program via Google (ha), I couldn't imagine a better fit for my calling!
WHY FULLERS MASTER IN GLOBAL LEADERSHIP?
When I started my online Masters degree in Fall 2015, I didn't imagine God would be having me travel so soon, but He knew- and had led me to a program is is MADE for people that are in full-time ministry and travel often, who are intentionally seeking to learn from a global missional perspective.
Therefore, the program goes at a steady pace for you to complete with the expectation of you working 40 hours a week in your area of ministry. Furthermore, the program is tailored to my needs through the coursework offered- they want to partner with what God is calling me to, help to equip and train me for exactly that. I will be continuing this program for the next several years.
Knowing that missionaries have had a strong history of seminary education, I feel confident that this is a honoring way to steward the formation of my foundational understanding of ministry. Furthermore, I have felt nothing but peace in continuing my Masters degree through Fuller Theological Seminary, as it is a truly immersive way of taking what I am learning and getting to put it directly into practice during my time with YWAM!
I have experienced our cohort to be a unique place for me to be encouraged by other professionals in the field prioritizing further education on top of full-time ministry, and it is invaluable for me to find this community as I continue forward.
*One of the greatest blessings of being in this program is that Fuller has a partnership with YWAM, which means that when I am working full-time with YWAM, I get a 30% discount off of my tuition for my MAGL courses, so in addition to the other scholarships that I have received, I actually have all of my tuition paid for! What a blessing!!*
You can read more about the program on their website, or I would love to answer any questions (just email me)!
“Designed for leaders with at least four years of experience in a church, mission, nonprofit, or business role, the MAGL’s primarily online format supports you in your ministry context as you study. You will sharpen and encourage one another as a “cohort”—a community of learning—with the guidance of seasoned faculty and support staff. In a safe, peer-oriented environment you’ll find space for the honest dialogue and mutual care that will help you transform your ministry. Studying with others from around the world, you’ll be exposed to global trends and cultural differences—giving you the broadened perspective, equipping, and encouragement to embrace your role as a missional change agent in your own context. Your ministry will be strengthened through a program that builds on your experience and emphasizes practical application. As you wrestle with theoretical concepts and exchange input with your cohort peers, you’ll apply newfound insight to your leadership role. ”
